BREAKING: Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Begins ₦2 Million Business Grant Distribution to Small-Scale Entrepreneurs

ABUJA, NIGERIA ... Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has reportedly commenced the distribution of business grants worth ₦2 million each to small-scale business owners, as part of efforts to support entrepreneurship and strengthen local businesses.

The senator explained that her decision to provide cash grants followed lessons from previous empowerment initiatives in which sewing machines were distributed to beneficiaries.

According to her, some recipients later sold the machines to raise money for other needs, including business expansion and payment of shop rent.

“I have given out sewing machines to many, and at the end of the day I realized they sold them to either boost their businesses or pay rent. So I have decided to give cash to those who requested support to start a business or add more stock,” she was quoted as saying.

The latest approach is intended to give beneficiaries greater flexibility to address their business needs, whether by starting a new venture, purchasing additional stock or improving existing operations.

The reported grant distribution highlights the importance of financial support for small-scale entrepreneurs, many of whom face challenges accessing capital to establish or expand their businesses.

However, details regarding the total number of beneficiaries, the overall value of the programme and the specific eligibility requirements were not included in the information available at the time of this report.
