Abuja, Nigeria — Fresh details have emerged in the ongoing investigation into the alleged coup plot in Nigeria as security and legal sources confirm that about 30 witnesses have been lined up to testify against the suspected coup plotters currently under investigation.
According to findings gathered by Presshub Media Agency, the witnesses include military officers, intelligence operatives, bankers, and civilian associates linked to the financial and logistical aspects of the alleged conspiracy. Their testimonies are expected to provide critical evidence on communication records, financial transactions, and operational planning allegedly connected to the suspects.
Sources familiar with the case revealed that the witnesses will be presented in phases before the competent court-martial and civil court proceedings, depending on the nature of their evidence. The prosecution is reportedly focused on establishing a clear chain of events, including alleged meetings, fund transfers, and procurement of materials said to have been used in planning the operation.
Security agencies have also intensified coordination between intelligence units to ensure all evidence presented meets legal standards required for a successful prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters has continued to maintain that due process will be followed, stressing that all individuals involved will be given fair hearing in line with military justice and Nigerian law.
