Breaking news: Oyo Police Broker Peace Over Toluwanisings’ Burial Dispute, Warn Against Social Media Escalation

The Oyo State Police Command has intervened in the disagreement surrounding the burial arrangements of late Nigerian singer Toluwanisings, bringing his family, friends and associates together to sign a peace undertaking aimed at preventing further escalation.

The agreement was reached on November 3, 2026, following tensions and public exchanges among parties over the late singer’s burial arrangements. The police said the intervention was intended to promote peace and discourage actions capable of worsening the disagreement.

Under the undertaking, all parties agreed to maintain peace and good conduct, discontinue public exchanges and refrain from interviews, discussions or social media publications capable of inflaming tensions.

They also committed to stopping the circulation of narratives, allegations and other content relating to the matter through media platforms, including publications made by their proxies, associates or representatives.

The Commissioner of Police warned that the agreement must be respected by everyone involved. He further cautioned that anyone whose actions amount to an offence under applicable laws would be arrested and prosecuted.

The Command also appealed to members of the public, bloggers and media practitioners to exercise restraint and avoid amplifying unverified information that could reignite the disagreement. It urged all concerned to respect the peace undertaking and allow the matter to be handled responsibly.

The police intervention is aimed at maintaining public peace as the parties navigate the sensitive issues surrounding the singer’s death and burial arrangements.
