On a random Friday, my dad shared a reminder as usual, and I found it worthy of sharing.
He said: It is better to have an enemy who honestly says they hate you than a friend who secretly puts you down.
This is more than just a reminder, it’s something we need to reflect on.
When you know your enemy, you’re careful around them.
But those who claim to be your friends know everything about you, and they can pull you down without you even realizing it.
You’re too engaged to suspect hatred or hidden motives.
They smile with you, but think differently about you. It’s hard to notice their moves.
Not everyone who walks with you wants you to arrive. Some people enjoy the journey, but secretly hate your destination.
Discernment is knowing who is truly for you. It’s better to face open dislike than to grow in an environment of quiet sabotage.
Protect your peace. Watch patterns, not just words.
