Bandits Invade Kaduna Community, Kill Nine Farmers — Presshub Media Agency Report
Kaduna State, Nigeria Fear and mourning have gripped a rural community in Kaduna State after suspected armed bandits launched a deadly attack that left nine farmers dead, according to a report by Presshub Media Agency.
Residents said the attackers stormed the farming settlement in the early hours of the morning, when most villagers had already gone to their farmlands. The assailants reportedly opened fire sporadically, targeting farmers who were working on their crops and forcing others to run for safety.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the bandits operated freely for several minutes without immediate resistance. By the time help could be mobilized, nine farmers had already been killed, while several others narrowly escaped into nearby bushes. The attackers were said to have retreated through forest routes before security reinforcements arrived.
The tragic incident has thrown the community into deep grief, with families of the victims wailing as bodies were recovered and prepared for burial. Local leaders described the attack as “heartbreaking and unacceptable,” lamenting the continuous insecurity affecting farming communities in the region.
They further appealed to both the Kaduna State Government and federal security agencies to urgently deploy more troops, improve intelligence gathering, and strengthen rural patrols to prevent further loss of lives, especially as farming season intensifies.
Security operatives are yet to issue an official statement, but sources confirm that surveillance and clearance operations are expected to commence in the affected area to track down the attackers and restore calm.
This latest attack adds to growing concerns over rural insecurity, with many farmers now reportedly afraid to return to their farmlands.
