Tension continues to rise in Washington as the White House warns of potential mass layoffs if the ongoing U.S. government shutdown persists. The warning comes amid increasing pressure on Congress to reach a budget agreement and reopen federal operations.
According to reports from multiple sources, the Biden administration has expressed serious concern over the economic and social impact of the shutdown, emphasizing that prolonged inaction could trigger widespread job losses across various federal departments and contractors.
A senior White House official noted that “the longer this shutdown continues, the greater the threat to American workers, families, and small businesses who depend on government support and stability.”
Currently, thousands of federal employees are already facing furloughs, delayed paychecks, and operational disruptions in critical sectors such as healthcare, transportation, and defense. The White House urged Congress to act swiftly, warning that continued political deadlock could worsen inflation and destabilize key government programs.
Meanwhile, opposition lawmakers blame the administration for what they call “poor fiscal management,” while the White House insists that partisan politics are holding the nation hostage.
