BREAKING: Adeleke Signs Osun Park Management Bill Into Law, Promises Modernised Transport System

OSOGBO, OSUN STATE … Governor Ademola Adeleke has signed the Osun State Park Management Bill into law, marking a new phase in the administration and regulation of motor parks and the wider transport sector across the state.

The signing, which took place at the Government House, followed the passage of the legislation by the Osun State House of Assembly.

Governor Adeleke commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, and members of the House for what he described as their proactive approach to addressing longstanding challenges in the state’s transport park system.

The governor said the new law represents an important step towards modernising transportation in Osun State and improving the experience of commuters and transport operators.

According to Adeleke, the legislation provides a framework capable of addressing persistent challenges surrounding the management of motor parks, while allowing different stakeholders to participate in the delivery of efficient transport services.

“Having signed this bill into law, I assure all stakeholders that implementation will commence in earnest. In line with the law, we will ensure that Osun people and other interests are accommodated for efficient service delivery across the state,” the governor said.

Speaking at the occasion, Speaker Adewale Egbedun said the House followed its standing rules in processing and passing the legislation.

Egbedun said the new law provides a legislative framework for addressing concerns surrounding the management of motor parks and transportation in the state, while also incorporating sustainable transport practices.

The legislation is expected to strengthen the organisation of the transport sector and provide a clearer framework for the administration of motor parks across Osun State.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi; Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina; members of the State Executive Council and other senior government officials.

The development comes after the State House of Assembly recently passed the Osun State Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management Bill, 2026, which seeks to establish a structured framework for motor parks, traffic management, transport operations and revenue collection.

The legislation also provides for measures including digitalised ticketing and efforts to curb multiple ticketing, extortion, thuggery and other unlawful activities within motor parks.

With the governor’s assent, the legislation moves from the legislative process into implementation, with stakeholders now expected to work within the new framework for the management of Osun’s transport sector.
