When Motivation Fades After a Strong Start

By Nimotallahi Lola Ibraheem from PRESSHUB MEDIA AGENCY

Going into 2026, I had some wish lists and new resolutions.

I compiled a list of what I want and who I want to become before this year runs out.

Maybe I decided to take my life seriously because of the age I’m getting serious. I prepared the list using the SMART method, starting with the big and hard ones first.

I started well in January… maybe not perfectly well, but I can see growth somehow.

I began applying for job opportunities, even when I felt the brands could never employ someone like me but what is underrating oneself when the motivation is high? 😊I enhanced my profiles and stayed consistent… at least a bit.

And what excited me most? I got recognized by Google 🥰Amidst some obstacles and little issues that came up, I still showed up and I was proud of myself.

At the end of January, I was able to point out my goals, even if they were small. I promised myself to do more and make those January achievements my starting point.

With the same energy, I entered February… and all of a sudden, the motivation started dropping.

My mind felt heavy maybe because of overthinking, burnout, or the thought of wanting everything done at once.

I know it’s still early, but sometimes when motivation is zero and confidence is doubted, all you need to do is share the burden with someone… or something.

Ask for their opinion. Ask them how they manage this kind of phase.

Or even put it in writing 😊Writing or journaling might not give you the solution immediately, but it lifts the burden and lightens the soul.

It makes the mind feel better and helps you see possible solutions even among things you’ve seen before but overlooked.

Motivation won’t always come.

What keeps you going sometimes is your goals, where you’re going.

And sometimes, reflecting on how far you’ve come gives you a reason to push harder.

Have you ever started strong and then felt the energy dip?

How do you find your way back to yourself?
