IKIRUN, OSUN STATE – There is a noticeable increase in security presence across Osun State as the Nigeria Police Force has commenced the deployment of personnel ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
PRESSHUB MEDIA AGENCY observed on Thursday at about 10:39 a.m. that a convoy of police officers, believed to have been deployed from Lagos State, was seen passing through the Ikirun axis en route to various parts of Osun State.
The deployment is part of ongoing security preparations aimed at ensuring a peaceful, free, and credible governorship election across the state. The officers were seen traveling in official police vehicles and other security convoys as they proceeded to their designated duty posts.
Residents who witnessed the movement described it as one of the early signs that security agencies are intensifying efforts to maintain law and order before, during, and after the election.
The Nigeria Police Force is expected to collaborate with other security agencies to provide adequate security, protect electoral materials, and safeguard voters, election officials, and other stakeholders throughout the electoral process.
Political parties and residents have continued to call for peaceful conduct, urging supporters to remain law-abiding and allow the democratic process to take place without violence or intimidation.
More security personnel are expected to arrive in the coming days as preparations for the governorship election gather momentum across Osun State.
