The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano State Sector Command, has arrested a man impersonating a corps officer to snatch motorcycles across Kano State.
According to a statement by the FRSC’s Sector Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Labaran, the suspect identified as Abdullahi Ali, a resident of Bela Village in Ungogo Local Government Area, was apprehended on January 19, 2026, following multiple complaints from members of the public.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ali allegedly used a fake FRSC identity and false driver’s licence to forcibly stop and seize motorcycles under the guise of official patrol operations. Some of the motorcycles are believed to have been stolen after they were confiscated.
FRSC Intelligence Unit operatives acted on credible information which led to the suspect’s arrest. A counterfeit driver’s licence was reportedly recovered from him during the operation.
The suspect has since been handed over to the Gwale Divisional Police Station in Kano for further investigation and prosecution. The FRSC warned the public to verify the identity of officers before compliance and to report suspicious individuals claiming to be law enforcement personnel.
