….makes donation to boost local security efforts
Reaffirming his commitment to the safety of his constituents, Rep. Olusoji Adetunji joined community leaders security agencies, and other stakeholders at the Ikirun town hall security summit today Wednesday, where he disclosed that the safety of Ikirun remains one of his foremost priorities.

Though unavoidably absent, Rep. Adetunji was represented by his aides, Hon. Musbau Jayeola alongside Hon. Oloyede Lateef, and Hon. Lateef Adebayo.
In his keynote address, Rep. Adetunji described security as the foundation upon which every form of development is built.
His keynote address reads, “Security is the primary duty of government. Without peace, there can be no progress; without safety, there can be no meaningful development.

“Since assuming office as your representative, I have treated security as a top priority. To strengthen local surveillance and community policing, I donated a bus to a local vigilante and two brand new motorcycles to the National Ikirun Progressive Union (NIPU) to aid their security operations.”
The lawmaker also recalled his motion on the floor of the House of Representatives earlier this year, calling for the reopening of banks in Ikirun and its environs, while also revealing plans to empower youths through ICT training to divert them from cybercrime and other social vices, and also engage the Nigeria police and Amotekun Corps in strengthening border security, especially around Ila-Odo and Oyan which share boundaries with Kwara State.

The Chairman, Nigeria-Brazil parliamentary friendship group further urged residents to play their part in securing the community by sharing intelligence with authorities and staying vigilant. At the summit, Rep. Olusoji Adetunji made a financial donation to support local security operations in the town.
While giving his opening remarks at the summit, the Eesa of Ikirun, High Chief Lawal Adetoyese Kareem, expressed concern over the influx of herdsmen and criminal use of abandoned properties, urging Baales and residents to stay alert. Security agency representatives, including officials from the DSS and NSCDC, emphasized timely intelligence sharing, community collaboration, and warned that some criminals pose as scavengers to deceive and rob unsuspecting residents.
