Ivan Toney is one of a number of players Chelsea are looking at signing ahead of transfer deadline day, presshub media agency understands.
The Blues are considering making a move to try and sign Toney, who is currently weighing up his options with a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli on the table for the England international. The 28-year-old forward was left out of both of Brentford’s squads for their two Premier League games this season and wants to leave the club.
Toney is viewed as a much cheaper and more attainable alternative to Osimhen, who Chelsea held talks about over the weekend just gone. Chelsea would rather sign Osimhen on a loan deal while the Nigerian striker wants to leave Napoli on a permanent basis before the transfer deadline.
If Chelsea can sign Toney for a deal that fits inside their salary structure and the price Brentford set is deemed reasonable, then the Blues will make an official move for the striker. Chelsea currently have Nicolas Jackson as their main option for the No.9 role in the team, while the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Cole Palmer and Joao Felix can play in the central role. The Blues want to add competition for Jackson while the others are allowed to excel in other positions.
Armando Broja is still expected to leave despite problems with his medical at Ipswich Town. Tractor Boys boss Kieran McKenna admitted earlier on Tuesday that the club remain in talks over the potential transfer of Broja, who has been told he has no future at Stamford Bridge.
