There are just a few days remaining for Chelsea to finalise any deals before transfer deadline day. And it is shaping up to be a busy one for the Blues.

While Enzo Maresca and his team have the small matter of facing Servette in the second leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off on Thursday, the Blues’ co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart will be working behind the scenes to try and give the head coach his ideal squad for the rest of the season.

One hole in the team looks to be the No.9 position. Chelsea have a number of options who can play in this role, including Nicolas Jackson and recent arrival Joao Felix among others, but few are ideally suited for a team hoping to challenge at the top of the Premier League. As such, the Blues have been linked with a number of players recently.

One of those is Victor Osimhen. presshub media agency understands Chelsea have held talks with Napoli over the last few days about a move. However, with his record in Serie A any move is likely to be very expensive, both in terms of a transfer fee and wages – something the club will have to balance against their Profit and Sustainability responsibilities.

One alternative they are now being linked with is a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney. The England international has been linked with a move away from the club for some time, but no transfer has yet materialised. Currently, there is plenty of interest from Saudi Arabia, but Chelsea are now linked with a move to bring the 28-year-old to Stamford Bridge.

A move for Toney would be cheaper, but would it be the right one for the Blues? presshub media agency
